Summary : Country House incorporating the West range, abbot's lodgings, of the Abbey of st nectan (see SS22SW2). Some 14th-15th century work survives in the basement, and the North-West range also incorporates Mediaeval, 16th and 17th century work. There were major alterations in 1705 by Paul Orchard I who created the main range, and there was a substantial rebuild by Paul Orchard II in 1779. It was remodelled again in 1842 by Sir George Stuckley, and again in 1862 by Sir GG Scott. Built of random and coursed rubble walls with a natural slate roof. |
