Location :
Greater London Authority
Islington
Non Civil Parish
Grid Ref : TQ3056084970
Summary : Caledonian Road opened to passengers on 15th December 1906, serving the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton line from Hammersmith to Finsbury Park. The station was designed by Leslie Green with his assistants Stanley Heaps and Israel Walker. To help create a uniform appearance with other stations built at this time, a deep ruby red faience was used for the exterior which ensured that the building stood out from its neighbours and therby create an easily identifiable image. The ground floor of the station housed the booking office and the upper lift landing. A mezzanine floor contained the lift gear and office accommodation.
