Summary : Byton was the temporary location of the monks who later settled permanently at Wigmore Priory. At sometime between 1131 and 1179, they left their temporary accomodation at Wigmore village, (SO46SW53) to move to a new site at Byton. However, this in turn was abandoned for their former accomodation at Shobdon, (SO46SW5).
