Summary : A linear feature comprising bank and ditch, part of a complex of linears, enclosures and fields on Gussage Hill (see ST 91 SE 3 and associated monuments). Running roughly northwest-southeast, the linear begins close to the southwestern side of enclosure ST 91 SE 135, crossing the line of the Dorset Cursus (Linear 41) an drunning for over a kilometre before changing direction and heading south for a couple of hundred metres, eventually terminating at or near enclosure ST 91 SE 214. Two-thirds of the way along its length, it is met by a similar linear feature running southwest-northeast and termintaing against multiple linear ST 91 SE 211. Together, these form a large enclosed area, which coincidentally contains 2 long barrows and several round barrows (see ST 91 SE 9, 11, 13 and associated monuments). NB this linear was originally described as part of ST 91 SE 3. That record should be consulted for further sources and information. |
