Summary : A system of multiple linear banks and ditches, part of a substantial earthwork and cropmark complex of enclosures, linears and fields on Gussage Hill (see ST 91 SE 3 and associated records). At their northwestern end, the linear system adjoins the southern end of enclosure complex ST 91 SE 135 roughly at the point where the latter's ditch broadly coincides with that of the Dorset Cursus (Linear 41). The multiple linears run roughly southeast for around 500 metres. At the southeastern end, further features define a small triangular enclosure on the northeast-facing side, while the linear system itself appears to turn roughly 90 degrees, heading southwest for around 200 metres before meeting linear ST 91 SE 212, with which it forms a large, irregular enclosure. |
