TOOTING BEC PRIORY

DESCRIPTION + /

The manors of Tooting and Streatham were held by the Abbey of Bec-Hellouin at the time of the Domesday Survey. Tooting at sometime had a body of monks, apparently as a distinct alien priory. It was dissolved before 1315, at which time it was a "parcel" of Ogbourne St George. It was granted to Eton College in 1440.
