Summary : Possible pottery kiln, part of the Donyatt Pottery Industry, identified as a pottery scatter recording following ploughing in the field sometime after 1945. The pottery is 17th-18th century in date. Field investigations in 1960 failed to locate any finds or traces of the kiln.
More information : Pottery has been made in the Donyatt since the Medieval period. Shortly after 1945 a number of fields were ploughed and pottery scatters were recorded. A scatter at ST32491355 comprised 17th and 18th century pottery. Field inveatigations failed to locate any finds or traces of kiln structures (1-2).
