Summary : Double house founded circa 660 by Merwald, King of West Mercia, and destroyed at some time by the Danes. It was refounded as a secular college for prebendaries, and later as a nunnery, but was abandoned before 1046. It is assumed to be on the same site as the later Benedictine monastery.
