Summary : Eight inscriptions carved into the east facing side of a sandstone cliff in the Roman quarry in Combcrag Wood. The quarry lies circa 350m south of Hadrian's Wall and was used as a source of building material by the troops who built the wall. |

Quarry inscriptions cut on the east face of the buff sandstone cliff at Coombe Crag, 1/3 ml south west of milecastle 51. Full details. (2)

The Roman quarry and inscriptions are as described by Collingwood and Wright in the area centred NY590 650. For reasons of conservation the inscriptions have not been positioned precisely on RCHME 1:2500 overlay. (4)
