More information : A Prehistoric or Roman field system was seen as cropmarks and mapped from good quality air photographs.
A somewhat fragmentary series of enclosures, representing small fields delineated by ditches, extends for c.650m along the floor of a narrow valley (Centred at SU 7775 8950; Morph No. TG.362.3.1-6). A small amount of Roman building material was recorded in the vicinity (SU 78 NE 1).
The field system may be related to a similar, less fragmentary group of fields at Hambleden, 3km to the south along the same valley (SU 78 NE 48) close to the River Thames, and to the Roman villas at Hambleden (SU 78 NE 5) and Mill End (SU 78 SE 4).
