Summary : Church, the north arcade of which is 14th century with a 15th century west part and tower. The building was encased in 1765; a northwest annexe was added in 1826; the south aisle was added in 1845 (by W. Evans); the east bay of the south aisle, the chancel, the north organ loft and the south vestry were added in 1871 (by E.G. Paley). The building is of ashlar with brick to the tower and annexe, with tile roofs. The chancel has a gable cross. The gabled organ loft has an inscription giving the architect as J. Lavender. The chapel has large offset buttresses, the vestry has diagonal buttresses. The north aisle is of dressed stone. The tower is of four stages with an ashlar plinth. There are a number of good wall monuments within the church. |
