WHISTONES PRIORY

Also known as the House of Mary Magdalene and White Ladies Nunnery. Cistercian nunnery, founded in 1237-40 and dissolved in 1536. Part of the chapel is still extant, and excavations have revealed its footings. It was built in the 13th century and largely demolished shortly after the Dissolution.
