Summary : Four altars from the fort at Benwell (CONDERCVM). Nos. 1332 and 1333 are dedicated to Mars; No 1335 to Vetris and No 1336 to Vitires. All the altars are now in the Museum of Antiquities of the University and the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne. A dedication slab found before 1789 at Benwell is now in the Black Gate Museum. The inscription reads 'To the three Mother Goddesses of the Parade-ground...' and refers to the restoration of a temple. No 1334. The inscription suggests a temple here although no structure is known.
