WEST GATE

DESCRIPTION + /

Town gate to Gloucester's medieval town defences probably built in the reign of Henry VII and rebuilt in the reign of Henry VIII. It was castellated with two turrets on its north side. The gate survived into the 19th century and was excavated between 1971-3.
