MONUMENT NO. 11537

A Roman milestone was discovered in the bed of the River Petteril, below Gallows Hill during alterations to the river bank before 1893-5. The Milestone had inscriptions to Marcus Aurelius (AD 287-293) and Constantine the Great (AD 306-337). It is now in Tullie House Museum.
