Summary : Landscape park and gardens to Stoneleigh Abbey covering an area of 365 hectares. A deer park at Stoneleigh was emparked in 1640 and was landscaped by Humphry Repton from 1808 until 1813. Improvements continued to take place until the 1830s using advise by architect CS Smith. In the mid 19th century formal terraced gardens, designed by W A Nesfield, were set out. These were modified during the 1930s by Percy Cane. Later additions include a late 20th century knot garden. |

The park was created 1808-11 by Humphry Repton and comprises woodland and tree belts present on most of the boundaries. garden terraces to the west and south of the house were developed circa 1850. Formal gardens were set out during the 19th century, and modified in the 1930s. (1)
