HAM CASTLE

A Medieval motte castle mentioned in 1207. The oval motte measures 56 metres by 40 metres, orientated north east to south west and stands 4.2 metres above the surrounding ground. The bailey was probably to the north west but its location and extent are indefinite. A Medieval hoard of gold and silver was found on the site in the 17th century. Scheduled.
