GREAT MALVERN PRIORY

DESCRIPTION + /

Benedictine monastery dependent on Westminster Abbey, founded 1085 AD dissolved in circa 1540. In the church, the 13th century Lady Chapel was rebuilt and lengthened, probably in the 14th century, and is thought to have been destroyed at the dissolution. Remains of the crypt beneath the chapel appear to date from the end of the 12th century. The Priory gateway built in the 15th century has been considerably restored. This, and the church, are all that remains of the Priory.
