GUPWORTHY LEVEL

DESCRIPTION + /

"Gupworthy Level, disused" is marked on the 1962 6" map. This mine was owned by the Brendon Hills Iron Ore Company. There are no documentary details as to its precise date. Most of the site is now under water as the valley was dammed. A miners cottage survives in good condition with roof and walls intact but apparently not inhabited. Other cottages comprising a row of about five or six small buildings are ruinous.
