Remains of Italianate gardens of Ashley Combe [see SS 84 NE 31], laid out in the latter part of the 19th century. The extensive gounds include Yearnor Woods, where substantial ornamental planting has taken place, a series of walks raised on brick terraces, a complex of tunnels, walled gardens, hot-houses and various decorative towers, turrets and archways. The house was demolished about 1960 and the gardens are now overgrown and ruinous.
