| Summary : Medieval ridge and furrow, seen as cropmarks, was mapped from aerial photographs and is centred at SU 0913 7153. The ridge and furrow appears to overlie a prehistoric field system (see SU 07 SE 67) and probably forms part of the field system belonging to the medieval settlement of Winterbourne Monkton (see SU 07 SE 82). The surrounding fields probably contained ridge and furrow, but it is difficult to distinguish from modern ploughing patterns. |
