Summary : Tower Green at the Tower of London lies in the south-west corner of the Inmost ward and is thought to have been an area of garden for 300 years. In 1975 trenches for fuel pipes for the new heating system revealed features of 16th century date including 2 walled gardens and the site previous site of the main guard. Historical documentation revealed that Sir Walter Raleigh was permitted to exercise here during his captivity in the Tower.
