Summary : Buried remains of a part of a cambered gravel road with chalk metalling running east-west along the southern side of the site of the Gilbertine Priory at Shouldham (see Priory of St Mary and the Holy Cross - TF 60 NE 3). Approximately 5m wide and .8m thick. Seen originally in section in the side of a modern drainage ditch but also visible as a soil mark in aerial photographs. Considered to be of Roman date. |
