Monument Number 1086245

Hob Uid: 1086245
Location :
City of Peterborough
Northborough
Grid Ref : TF1410007540
Summary : A cropmark enclosure visible on air photographs. It comprises two concentric but widely spaced circular ditches. The outer ring is circa 50 metres in diameter, the inner circa 20 metres. It may represent a funerary monument - a ploughed out round barrow - or a hengiform monument.
More information : TF 1410 0754 A double, concentric ring ditch was seen as a cropmark
and transcribed at 1:2500 scale by RCHME Aerial Survey. The feature
is almost circular. The diameter of the outer ring is 50 m and the
inner ring, 20 m. This may be a large Prehistoric barrow, or it
might be a small henge or hengiform monument of Neolithic date, but
no entrances in either ring ditch were identified. It is very
similar to another feature (TF 10 NW 81) which lay just over 1 km to
the west, on the line of the cursus, but has been destroyed by gravel
extraction. (1)
