ST EDITHS CHURCH

Built in 1837, the church was closed prior to 1986. Plan of West tower with spire, nave, chancel, South porch and vestry. Surveyed and part-excavated during demolition in 1993. A fragment of late 10th or early 11th century grave cover was found in the fabric of the south wall of the nave during the 1993 demolition. Mediaeval doorway fragments were also recorded incorporated in the fabric.
