Summary : College quadrangles and gardens to Wadham College laid out from the late 18th century incorporating the site of 17th century formal gardens. The gardens were landscaped by Mr Shipley, a pupil of Lancelot Brown, in 1796 and have 19th century and 20th century additions.
More information : Late C18 enclosed ornamental areas with later planting on the site of C17 formal gardens at Wadham College. Orignally an early C17 orchard, with formal gardens created in 1640s and 1651, replaced in 1796 by lawns and informal tree planting. (1)

College quadrangles and gardens laid out from the late 18th century incorporating the site of 17th century formal gardens. The gardens were landscaped by Mr Shipley, a pupil of Lancelot Brown, in 1796 and have 19th century and 20th century additions. (2)
