Summary : A World War II pillbox within Boscombe Down airfield. To the east of a disc barrow (SU 13 NE 1), on a low mound, sits a World War II pillbox constructed from reinforced concrete. The pillbox is visible on aerial photographs and appears to have been constructed over part of the barrow.
More information : A disc barrow and a World War II pillbox within Boscombe Down airfield. The barrow has a mound 12m in diameter. On the eastern side of the barrow, on a low mound, sits a World War II pillbox constructed from reinforced concrete. (1)


The disc barrow referred to by authority 1 is the barrow described in SU 13 NE 1 (scheduled number 28938). The pillbox is visible on aerial photographs and appears to have been constructed over part of the barrow.

This pillbox is recorded on the defence of Britain Database at SU 1745 3997: a reinforced concrete pillbox situated on a disc barrow. A defence tunnel terminates close by. (3)
