Summary : The conjectural site of Roman turret 71A, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall, and east of the Burgh-by-Sands fort of Aballava. There are no visible remains.

(Area NY 3331 5913) The calculated position of Turret 71A, is a little to the west of the recently repaired bridge over the Greathill Beck (2). Traces of worked stone with feather broaching, stone tiles and part of a stone column can be found in the stream, close to, and south of the modern footbridge (3). (2-3)

There are no visible remains of the turret or of the stone etc said to be in the stream. (4)

There is no surface trace of the turret at NY 3335 5913. (6)
