More information : (Area NY 793 139) Trial excavations in advance of road building, carried out in 1972, confirmed the existence of a vicus (NY 71 SE 45). A complex series of features were located including a well preserved bath house of several periods. (1)

There is no trace of the Roman bath house above ground. The site of it was pointed out on the ground at NY 7925 1402 by Mr George Beckwith, farmer at Brough Castle Farm; the excavation trench has been utilised as a concrete-lined sheep dip. (3-3a)
