[SK 06533971] The Western Range - In Cistercian houses this normally contained store rooms and the quarters of the lay-brothers. At Croxden, this was the last part of the central buildings to be completed (circa 1280-90). Its southern end and the junction with the range now lies under the modern house, but the northern end survives. It was vaulted with a row of columns in the centre, and had doorways in the north wall, leading into the south aisle of the church, and the east wall, leading into the dorter. This latter door after suppression was altered into a fireplace. In the east wall two original windows remain, though mutilated". (1)
