Summary : Medieval settlement site initially seen as earthworks but on recent on aerial photographs (2002), has been ploughed flat and is visible as soilmarks.
More information : Elements of Medieval settlement remains were visible as earthworks
around High Toynton village and were mapped from poor quality air
photographs. Three conjoined enclosures on average 80m by 55m were
visible at TF 2861 6986. Possible boundaries were seen at
TF 2819 6986 and TF 2825 6976 and a trackway at TF 2842 6967. Six
blocks of ridge and furrow were visible at TF 2808 6985,
TF 2875 6971 and TF 2847 6963. (Morph Nos LI.187.1.1-6).
