More information : A Medieval settlement was seen as earthworks and cropmarks and mapped from poor quality air photographs. At least thirteen enclosures (probably crofts) lie either side of a long (340m) hollow way, which is centred at TF 1594 7948. The crofts range in length from 40m to 130m. Three of the crofts on the south eastern side of the hollow way have small (8m-10m wide) crew yards. At the back of one of the enclosures on the north western side of the hollow way is a pond, centred at TF 1591 7953, 50m long. At the southern end of the track are three blocks of ridge and furrow, centred at TF 1576 7919, ranging in length from 140m to 190m. These remains could represent the lost village of Hardwick, described in TF 17 NE 2 (authorties 2-4) as "an extinct hamlet in or near Panton". (Morph Nos. LI.564.2.1 - 2.6)
