THE MOAT

DESCRIPTION + /

Medieval motte and bailey, surviving as an earthwork in good condition. The motte is a flat topped mound 7 metres high 32 metres in diameter at the base and 12 metres in diameter at the top. The bailey measures 24 by 28 metres internally. To its north is a steep bank to a stream and on the south and east is a bank and outer ditch. At the south western corner is a 3 metre wide causeway giving access to the bailey. Scheduled.
