Summary : A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as an earthwork mound on historic aerial photography and remains extant on the latest 2010 vertical imagery. The mound is surmounted by a broken ornamental stone pedestal.
More information : (SJ 8429 7289) Pedestal (NAT) (1). SJ 8429 7289. Bowl barrow 200m NE of Capesthorne Hall. Scheduled. RSM No 22576. A bowl barrow located on the summit of a rounded knoll, comprising a slightly oval turf-covered earthen mound up to 1m high with maximum dimensions of 27m by 25.5m. A broken ornamental stone pedestal on the barrow's summit is excluded from the Scheduling (2). The Bronze Age round barrow is visible as an earthwork mound on historic aerial photography and remains extant on the latest 2010 vertical imagery. It was mapped as part of the Cheshire National Mapping Programme project (3-4).
