The Carr Dyke is visible on air photographs. The substantial banks flank the drainage channel on both sides mainly, but in some section only the eastern one is visible. Early photography taken in 1930s and 1940s shows good survival of the earthworks, but later photography shows some areas have been levelled and show as cropmarks. The substantial banks are not just spoil from the drainage channel, but also acting as flood defences.
