Summary : A circular enclosure circa 15 metres in diameter, with an off-centre internal pit, is visible as a cropmark on air photographs. It almost certainly represents a levelled barrow. It is one of several such monuments in the vicinity of the Barnack cursus (TF 00 NE 219). |
More information : The following features were mapped from good quality air photographs:-
Probable Prehistoric or Roman barrow, seen as cropmarks. Morphological description: a circular enclosure, diameter 15m, defined by 1 ditch with an off centre internal pit. Centred at:-TF 0795 0659 (Morph No. LI.777.43.1-2)
This feature is in close proximity to a cursus (TF 00 NE 11) and other related features and they could all form part of some kind of 'ritual complex' made up of features that are not necessarily contemporary.
