This milecastle was investigated as part of the Milecastles Project. Three trenches were excavated across the west, south, and east walls of the milecastle. No evidence for the turf wall milecastle was recovered. The stone milecastle measured approximately 19.2m east/west, and 20.74m north/south externally. The foundations of the walls were 2.51m wide. Excavations indicated that the curtain wall was 2.35m in width. Internal surfacing was present. A burnt feature, possibly a hearth or oven, was found in the south-west corner. (6-7)
