Summary : A single Roman cremation burial was found when cutting the railway on the east bank of the North Tyne River. It has been assumed that this was one of many lining the Military Way, and was part of a cemetery for Chesters Fort.
More information : (Previously recorded by the Ordnance Survey as NY 97 SW 5.2) The second cemetery near Chesters fort was east of the river on the line of the Military Way where the North Tyne railway cut across it. (NY 915 700). (1) No further information. (2) The only direct evidence for a cemetery is the find of a single cremation when cutting the railway on the East bank of the North Tyne. (3) Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (4)
