Summary : The Roman road is on the same line as the north mound of the Vallum. In 1920 excavations revealed this to be the case between Limestone Corner and the Coesike.
More information : Horsley stated that the Military Way was carried upon the north mound of the Vallum (1a). In 1920 excavations revealed this to be the case between Limestone Corner and the Coesike [3/4 mile east of Sewingshields] except as pointed out by Horsley for a short distance opposite each milecastle (1b). This reference is a mere footnote containing no details. On same line as north mound of Vallum. (1)
