Hob Uid: 1009471 | |
Location : Northumberland Bardon Mill
|
Grid Ref : NY7800068540 |
Summary : The Roman road survives 3.3-6.0m wide, north margin is indistinct, often appearing as a vegetation mark, south side revetted by line of contiguous boulders that survive up to 0.6m high. Road is turf-covered with some cobbling protruding through, though evidence of surface quarrying, and drainage cuts at some points. In field immediately west of the Fort, the Road is encroached upon its north side by irregular enclosures (NY 7868/13). The approach to the west gate is blocked by 2 or 3 banks which seem to be late defences of 4th century. |
