Summary : No surface remains of the Roman road.
More information : Horsley was able to trace the Military Way coming from Portgate as far west as the point near the `castellum' by St Oswald, which from his description is milecastle 25. At Portgate the road passes near the Vallum north mound then converging on the north mound until, just west of milecastle 23, the two are coincident (1a). No surface trace. (1)
