Summary : The Roman road is probably on the north mound of the Vallum, but this is not certain.
More information : Horsley was able to trace the Military Way coming from Portgate as far west as the point near the `castellum' by St Oswald, which from his description is milecastle 25, but from here it was `lost in the village and inclosures from St Oswald to Walwick Chesters' (Chesters Fort) (1a). Probably on north mound of Vallum but this is not certain. (1)
