Summary : A Roman altar 11.5" high was found in 1847. It is now in Carlisle Museum.

A Roman Altar 11 1/2 ins high, and inscribed DEO BELATV CADRO
PETSIUS etc was in 1847 found built into the garden wall of the
Rectory at Kirkbride. or into the end of a barn demolished prior
to 1899. The altar was in the possession of Mrs
Plaskett-Gillbanks of Clifton in 1899. (2-3)
