MONUMENT NO. 1002090

DESCRIPTION + /

Probable Bronze Age round barrow, visible as a cropmark, 200 metres south east of Windmill Hill causewayed enclosure. It is possibly Grinsell's Avebury 48b. Documentary sources for barrows in the vicinity of Windmill Hill were examined as part of the RCHME Industry and Enclosure in the Neolithic project. See the archive report for full details. The barrow is no longer extant as an earthwork, though examination of air photographs dating back to 1924 depict a badly damaged central mound surrounded by a ditch and bank. Overall diameter for the monument is circa 45 metres.
