Summary : The possible site of Roman milecastle 76. There is a very faint, irregular, unsurveyable platform amongst ridge-and-furrow at NY 2668 5988, but it is doubtful whether this is the remains of the milecastle.
More information : (NY 2668 5988) Milecastle 76 (GS) (Site of) (1) Milecastle 76, the mound of which is visible on the ground, lies just over 220 yards east of the centre line of Drumburgh fort, well down the slope towards the old railway cutting. (2-3) No visible traces of the mound. (4) There is a very faint, irregular, unsurveyable platform amongst ridge-and-furrow at NY 2668 5988, but it is doubtful whether this is the remains of the milecastle. (5) Scheduled (6) Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (7)
