WORCESTER BLACKFRIARS

DESCRIPTION + /

Dominican Friary founded in 1347 and dissolved in 1538. Nothing remains of the Priory, which was situated north of Broad Street extending to the city wall, where the gardens are at the top of Friar's Alley, behind Smock Alley and running up to Angel Lane. Excavations have located the friary which was extensively robbed. Traces of the West side of the cloister and a chapel have been discovered, as well as foundations which suggest a building of at least 2-storey height. A gravelled roadway relating to the friary was also found.
