More information : [NY 26562191] MANOR HOUSE [GT] (Remains of) (1)
The house on Lord's Island was built at two successive periods, the original central part (north to south oblong) perhaps being the work (as Mr. Fisher Crosthwaite suggested) of Sir Thomas Radcliffe c.1460, and the rest early 17th C. According to Dr. Robinson the house was destroyed in 1709. [See AO 62:81:7] (2)
The site, though covered by mounds of overgrown rubble and collapsed walling, still retains a discernable ground plan as shown on the OS 25". (3) |
