More information : In the Admiralty Court of the Cinque Ports on 17-JAN-1638 (unknown whether expressed as Old or New Style) the case of Richard Cockram, concerning three pipes of Spanish wine, was heard. These had been saved out of the ship the ANGEL GABRIEL. The most thorough account describes the ANGEL GABRIEL as carrying Spanish wines, logwood and ginger and divers other goods and being driven on ground and broken at 'Jirves Gutt'. The account mentions 25 tons of Spanish wine and 12 tons of logwood found in the sea and worth 700l. (1)
