Summary : A Roman barrel-stave lined well was found in 1926 at the Bank of England. Pottery dates the well to circa 100 AD.

In 1926, a well lined with barrel-stave was found immediately under the doorway from the Old Ratunda to the shutting. One stave bare a stamped inscription "T.C. PACATI". The associated pottery indicate a date of Ca 100 AD. (1)
