Summary : Findspot of a Roman altar; it was ploughed up in two parts in 1851 and 1852 in the vicinity of Milecastle 60, it was dedicated to Cocidius and erected by the Sixth Legion.

NY 471 614. A spot called High Strand is the traditional site of Milecastle 60. In 1851 it yielded an altar to Cocidius, erected
by the Sixth Legion, and now at Castlesteads. (1)

The altar was ploughed up in two parts in 1851 and 1852 "in the vicinity of Milecastle 60". Details of inscription given. (2)
